We are seeking a dynamic Software Development Manager to lead an established development team who will be responsible for overseeing the development of high-quality software products, ensuring efficient team operations, and driving innovation. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the growth of a thriving technology company moving from legacy (Zilog/Z80/Microprocessors) to modern languages.

The role will report to the board and an opportunity to implement a new vision and strategy on new modern tech through transition, upgrade, migration and delivery of new software solutions for their clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development:

  • Develop and maintain a software roadmap aligned with company goals

  • Identify and propose new software product opportunities

  • Ensure adherence to modern R&D best practices and processes

  • Team Management:

  • Distribute workloads effectively using JIRA (or a similar platform)

  • Identify and address skill gaps within the team

  • Conduct regular team meetings, stand-ups, and 1-2-1s

  • Manage performance reviews and annual evaluations

  • Client Engagement:

  • Track and manage developer deadlines for client projects

  • Collaborate with the sales team on client calls and provide technical expertise

  • Maintain regular communication with key clients regarding project progress and updates

  • Process Improvement:

  • Continuously monitor and optimize development processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness

  • Implement innovative solutions to streamline workflows and improve productivity

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience managing software development teams

  • Zilog, Z80, C, Rasperry Pi, .NET, PHP, Linux, Windows Server

  • Strong understanding of modern development tools and technologies

  • C, C++, Java and Python

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Proven track record of delivering successful software projects
