Job Title: IT Infrastructure Support Engineer

Location: Redhill

Our client, an organisation in the IT industry, is currently seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Support Engineer to join their team. As an IT Infrastructure Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing hands-on technical support and management of the internal corporate and customer managed IT infrastructure. This includes working alongside the IT team to deliver a quality 24/7 service to both internal users and nominated customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain, and support the physical and virtual environment, network storage, backup, and recovery systems.
  • Ensure the seamless integration and operation of the corporate IT infrastructure for the organisation's headquarters, remote offices, and customers.
  • Configure all server builds and networks in compliance with IT security policies and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain software compliance for server operating systems, applications, and client licences.
  • Monitor usage and performance to ensure servers and services are operating correctly.
  • Manage the email infrastructure, including Exchange, cloud continuity services, SPAM filtering, and mobile device management.
  • Ensure compliance with the department's change control process and participate in change control board meetings.
  • Work within the remit of the organisation's cyber security policies.

As part of the IT Infrastructure support team, your support responsibilities will include:

  • Building and maintaining the IT hosting and security infrastructure.
  • Installing telephones and providing support to users and customers.
  • Being part of the on-call IT rota to respond to emergencies and perform remote access or site visits as needed.
  • Assisting in the management and implementation of the disaster recovery policy.
  • Conducting research on products, services, protocols, and standards to support desktop procurement and development efforts.
  • Reporting on any issues that could impact the business or network security.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement, IT service stability, and strategy.
  • Regularly auditing the network and systems to ensure compliance with IT policies and to identify areas for upgrades or improvements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • HND/Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline, OR at least 10 years of applicable experience in a busy 100+ user network environment.
  • In-depth experience with virtual environments (VMware), email services (Microsoft Exchange), and core Windows OS administration skills.
  • Knowledge of server and storage hardware, IT security, high availability environments, and IP network fundamentals.
  • Ability to achieve Direct Vetted Status (DV).

Desirable Skills:

  • Linux knowledge
  • Experience with Blackberry UEM server or Mobile Device Management (MDM)
  • Knowledge of IP phone systems and SNMP monitoring tools
  • Technical understanding of Endpoint Central, McAfee/Trellix Security, WebMarshal, Veeam, and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Relevant Microsoft qualifications are a strong bonus
