  • Job Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week Monday-Friday

My client are seeking a Dispute Resolution Coordinator to support their SEN Officers in undertaking dispute resolution, formal mediation work, and responding to appeals to the SEN and Disability Tribunal, including the preparation of bundles. This role requires a candidate who can work 2-3 days in the office and is able to commute to Wakefield.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Manage the Tribunal email inbox, ensuring information is shared with relevant officers within SENART, the legal team, and professionals involved in appeal hearings.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact with parents and professionals when a mediation is logged.
  • Support SEN Officers in amending Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) arising from complex annual reviews or disagreement resolution work.
  • Maintain records related to mediation and appeal activity and provide regular updates on themes to support learning.
  • Collate evidence, witness statements, and other information and reports to support the appeals process.
  • Prepare documentation bundles for appeals and ensure they are provided to the Tribunal and other parties within timescales.
  • Ensure witnesses in appeals are well prepared with the necessary information for the hearing.
  • Undertake research into case law to support the response to mediation and appeals.
  • Liaise with the independent mediation provider to set up sessions and ensure effective mediation.
  • Inform relevant staff of the outcomes of formal mediation and appeals.
  • Support Managers/SEN Officers to comply with Tribunal Orders.
  • Liaise with social care and health to ensure effective management of appeals.
  • Maintain accurate case records for cases subject to dispute resolution, mediation, and appeals.
  • Prepare data reports for senior managers and minute take for tribunal/mediation tracker meetings.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • BTEC Level 3 award in SEN Casework or proven experience in a similar field is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SEN Legislation, Statutory procedures, and current education legislation.
  • Understanding of data protection, confidentiality, and information security principles.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience working in the area of SEN or substantial experience in a relevant area.
  • Proficiency in clerical, administrative, and statistical routines.
  • Experience managing complaints and taking minutes with high accuracy.
