Our client is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and contribute to the successful delivery of a number of commercial design and build projects in the North East. This QS will play a crucial role in managing the commercial aspects of projects, ensuring cost-effective delivery and compliance with contractual agreements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the commercial aspects of design and build projects, ensuring cost-effective delivery within agreed budgets and contractual terms.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cost plans, budgets, and forecasts for projects.
- Manage the procurement process, including tendering, contract negotiations, and subcontractor management.
- Provide expert guidance and support to project teams on all commercial matters, ensuring compliance with JCT and NEC contracts.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and cost implications, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practice procedures for commercial management within the company.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors, building a strong reputation for commercial expertise.
- Collaborate effectively with the design and construction teams to ensure a smooth and successful project delivery.
Key Requirements:
- Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of [number] years of experience, preferably within a main contractor setting.
- Knowledge and experience working with both JCT and NEC contracts ideally.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the commercial aspects of commercial design and build projects.
- Strong understanding of the construction industry, including construction techniques, regulations, and market trends.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to make sound commercial judgments.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software packages, including cost modeling, valuation software, and project management tools.
