Team Area Purpose:

  • Birmingham Mind is looking to hire an IT Support Assistant to join the IT department in providing technical support to the organisation.
  • The IT department is currently the IT Manager and an IT Support Technician. We also work with a third-party IT support company who provide third-line IT and infrastructure support.

Job Purpose:

The IT Support Assistant's role will be performed in person and via phone, email, and remote desktop.
The role will primarily be supporting the IT Support Technician with responding to IT Help Desk requests, Asset Management and IT Training to users across Birmingham Mind sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritising and responding to IT helpdesk tickets and queries.
  • Supporting 1st Line response to IT issues.
  • Tagging and registering assets.
  • Supporting the management of assets.
  • Training staff users on basic IT use and raising awareness of correct IT use.
  • Communication across IT team and the organisation.
  • Assisting with IT Administration

Requirements:

  • Basic IT Knowledge and experience
  • Microsoft Windows and Office 365 systems
  • Android mobile device use
  • IT Support or helpdesk

  • Excellent Customer service skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Time Management and prioritisation skills
  • Eagerness to learn and ability to adapt and improve

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
