Working at a vibrant and inclusive primary school in the heart of Birmingham, committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for all our students. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong background in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to join our team and contribute to our ethos of valuing and encouraging every child to achieve their full potential.

Day to day of the role:

  • Provide tailored one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with specific requirements.
  • Support students academically, helping them understand and complete tasks while fostering their independence.
  • Promote the social and emotional development of students, encouraging positive interactions and self-esteem.
  • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe and supported.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and adjusting support strategies as needed.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour to maintain a conducive learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with children with SEN in a school setting.
  • A relevant qualification in education or childcare (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative school culture.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
