A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Advisor within our team at The Forward Trust.

The purpose of this role is to provide first-line advice and guidance to line managers on a range of HR matters and support the HR administration work of the team. You will report into an HR Business Partner who will be responsible for your professional development.

What you will be doing?

As an experienced HR Advisor, you will provide comprehensive and best practice advice on policy and procedure, performance management and absence management, tailoring advice to fit individual circumstances where appropriate, and work closely with HRBPs to identify trends and implement ways in which to counteract issues through the provision of consistent and business-focussed advice.

In line with the implementation of the overall HR People Strategy and annual objectives, you will work in close partnership with HR Business Partners, the Recruitment and Training leads and other key stakeholders to ensure the HR function delivers a quality service to our employees.

Some of the duties will include:

  • Coach Managers through processes
  • Provide general support to employees as required
  • Oversee informal performance improvement plans and escalate any concerns identified to the HR Business Partner
  • Write and send relevant letters to employee and ensure they are saved on Cascade and personnel files
  • Accurately take minutes at formal meetings
  • Type and circulate any minutes taken in a timely manner (within 48 working hours)
  • Run monthly reports to inform tight sickness monitoring at regular intervals (at least monthly)
  • Request fit-notes as required from employees and ensure that Cascade is updated to inform payroll
  • Write, send and file any relevant sickness process letters to the employee
  • Refer to OH when required or write to GP's or specialists for reports as required
  • Supporting as required with TUPE and due diligence processes.

What are we looking for?

  • Knowledge of HR theory, best practice and UK employment law, with a thorough understanding of where to find key information and updates.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the practical implementation of HR policy and processes, including Equal Opportunities and GDPR
  • Previous experience of managing ER cases or a similar HR role
  • HR Advisor background
  • Experience of working with a HRIS (information system; ideally Cascade)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice field.
  • Experience of working within the voluntary sector
