Key Responsibilities

  • Overnight Supervision: Provide vigilant and compassionate overnight care and supervision to young people in a residential setting.
  • Safety and Security: Ensure the safety and security of all residents through regular checks and proactive risk management.
  • Support and Guidance: Offer emotional support and guidance to young people who may experience distress during the night.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, therapists, and educators.
  • Training Participation: Engage in regular training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Experience: Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour and childhood trauma is essential. Previous experience in a children's residential home or as a waking night support worker is advantageous.
  • Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required.
  • Registration: Must be registered or willing to register with Social Care Wales.
  • DBS Check: Must have or be willing to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Skills and Attributes

  • Empathy and Understanding: A deep understanding of the complex needs of young people.
  • Industry Knowledge: Well versed in safeguarding regulations, de escalation techniques and the practices associated with being a childrens residential support worker
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm and Composed: Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Proactive Approach: A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving.
