We are seeking a Site Engineer to oversee the on-site aspects of surfacing projects, ensuring they are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently to a high-quality standard. The Site Engineer will work closely with the Contracts Manager and Supervisors to coordinate works, measure and agree on quantities of product, and maintain high workmanship and standards.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate works on site, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Manage staff and monitor performance against the programme.
  • Optimise the usage of company resources, including manpower, plant, and materials.
  • Devise and implement traffic management plans for each site, including signage and traffic management.
  • Monitor progress and report daily activities in alignment with the works schedule.
  • Measure works on site to enable accurate pricing.
  • Provide support in the preparation of tenders.

Technical Support:

  • Offer day-to-day engineering/technical guidance on site, identifying and resolving potential or actual technical issues.
  • Communicate requirements to all relevant personnel, including Health & Safety, Batching Plant, and Transport teams.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Safety Management Systems and Procedures, including Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and site audits to promote safety awareness and accountability.
  • Identify deviations from scheduled works and implement corrective actions.
  • Liaise with customers and statutory agencies to ensure successful project delivery and maintain good business relations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Tarmac experience
  • Third Level Qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of one year's experience as a Site Engineer within the civil engineering industry.
  • Experience in the road surfacing industry would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques, with a focus on groundworks.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
