Job Overview and Responsibilities

Reporting to our UK-based Operations Director, the Ascension Island Account Manager is a substantial and challenging role in a remote and unique location. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing senior leadership to over 150 colleagues on island and is accountable for ensuring the client delivers against its contractual requirements; this is a circa £20-25 million per annum. The Account Manager is required to lead and inspire our people and our supply-chain in order to deliver exceptional services to our Client, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and our customer, UK Strategic Command.

Ascension Island is one of the four PJOB locations, the others being the Falkland Islands, Gibraltar and Cyprus. The client currently hold FM contracts in all 4 locations and provide the overall management from a UK based Headquarters that works alongside the UK based client and customer. The successful candidate will form part of a Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the overall management of the international business. This is a senior role.

KEY DUTIES OF THE ROLE

  • Lead, develop and support our people.
  • Lead business on Island.
  • Deliver the contract within agreed revenue and margin targets.
  • Contract management including customer management, service delivery management, performance management, financial management and the monitoring and reporting of these responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain a positive collaborative working relationship with the local client and customer, associated stakeholders, and our supply chain.
  • Manage and oversee commercial issues with support from commercial colleagues and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote Brand Awareness and enhance company reputation.
  • Implement procedures to monitor progress against agreed performance indicators with the client, and the Supply Chain.
  • Foresee potential risks and issues with our client and partners and work collaboratively, proactively and positively to mitigate exposures.
  • Drive high standards of QHSE across all aspects of delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in service delivery and customer satisfaction, including supporting the targets on upsell and service enhancements, all reflected in bottom line performance and Net Promoter scores.

Person Specification

  • An exceptional person who has experience of leading a sizeable Hard/Total Facilities Management contract along with a programme of additional works services (circa additional £10-£15 million per annum) across either the public or private sector in a collaborative fashion. This could be contractor or client side.
  • Experience of delivering projects (additional works services) including capital projects in the range £250k-£5m in value.
  • The candidate should preferably have previous experience of leading Defence infrastructure contracts (either client or contractor side).
  • The Account Manager will reside on Ascension Island, which is a remote location, and therefore must be a resilient individual. The candidate ideally would have previous experience of living and working abroad.
  • This is a multi-faceted role that requires a commercially astute individual who can lead and inspire our people and supply chain to ensure our culture is one which is wholly supportive of our client and customer.
  • The successful candidate will be focussed on cultivating and maintaining collaborative and constructive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders across the contract and with other colleagues.

Notes

Ascension Island is a remote location in the South Atlantic. It offers a rewarding and unique location but individuals need to be robust and able to be away from the UK for periods of upto six months at a time. A UK passport holder with previous experience working for the UK MOD overseas would be desirable, but not essential.
