Finance Assistant - Construction

My client are an established, growing construction business with HQ / finance team based in Enfield, North London. With turnover at circa £15 million, excellent offices and a growing, skilled finance team of 3, due to rapid growth (turnover has doubled in last 12 months) they are seeking a new, permanent Finance Assistant exclusively via Tailored Recruiter to work in a mainly transactional-focused role (Purchase Ledger, Credit Control) plus ad-hoc duties such as filing, scanning, database entry - based fully onsite at Enfield offices - reporting into the Finance Manager.

There is scope to grow the role after 12 months with the possibility of study support after this time, depending on growth of the individual and business.

This role will ideally suit a Finance Junior seeking a permanent, onsite role in a small team in a successful, growing business to build up experience in both Accounts Payable and Receivables, requiring some transactional experience in UK, good communication skills, a strong work ethic and professional approach to their work - and living in North London.

Core responsibilities

  • Credit Control / Accounts Payable
  • Enter invoices into the financial systems accurately and timely using Sage 200
  • Address queries raised by sub-contractors, suppliers, and contract managers
  • Enter operative timesheets onto accounting systems including Sage 200 and Excel
  • Enter other relevant data into the accounting and works management system
  • Raise sales invoices for completed jobs
  • Submit invoices for authorisation before payment processing
  • Assist with credit control and debt recovery
  • Filing of invoices, timesheets and other paperwork as required
  • Assist the administrative team by answering telephone calls during busy periods and lunchtime cover
  • Other ad-hoc administrative and accounts duties, when required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Candidates must have initial experience as a Junior Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant / Junior, including Credit Control, Purchase Ledger, database entry and scanning / filing / documentation
  • Use and experience of Sage 200 an advantage, but not necessary - though candidates must be IT literate
  • Finance Assistants with experience working for a UK-based construction business ideal, though also not mandatory
  • Be professional, willing to work onsite and a team player - as you'll be working in a small, closely-knit team of 4
  • Live local to the area of Enfield or inside North London
  • Be a good communicator, for not only internal interaction with finance / non-finance but also when answering telephone / email queries and assisting with other areas of finance as and when requested by Finance Manager / Management Accountant
