They are seeking a Waste Management Operative to join their team and support their waste minimisation and recycling efforts. Responsibilities:

  • Collect and manage waste from school buildings and other areas within the campus
  • Operate and maintain a centralised compactor and recycling systems
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste in accordance with regulations and best practises
  • Adhere to health, safety, and security guidelines
  • Collaborate with the Waste Coordinator and other team members to achieve efficient waste management operations
  • Assist with cleanliness, waste disposal, and other ad hoc duties as needed
  • Engage in ongoing training to stay updated on best practises and regulations
  • Occasionally act as a local delivery driver

Essential:

  • Full clean UK driving licence held for at least 12 months
  • Ability to safely lift items weighing up to 20 kgs
  • Knowledge of manual handling techniques
  • Good eye for detail and commitment to high standards of health and safety
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Excellent verbal communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in the operation of a compactor (training can be provided)
  • Understanding of waste types and awareness of risks from hazardous materials
  • Experience adhering to health and safety regulations
  • Good general education
