They are seeking a Waste Management Operative to join their team and support their waste minimisation and recycling efforts. Responsibilities:
- Collect and manage waste from school buildings and other areas within the campus
- Operate and maintain a centralised compactor and recycling systems
- Ensure proper disposal of waste in accordance with regulations and best practises
- Adhere to health, safety, and security guidelines
- Collaborate with the Waste Coordinator and other team members to achieve efficient waste management operations
- Assist with cleanliness, waste disposal, and other ad hoc duties as needed
- Engage in ongoing training to stay updated on best practises and regulations
- Occasionally act as a local delivery driver
Essential:
- Full clean UK driving licence held for at least 12 months
- Ability to safely lift items weighing up to 20 kgs
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques
- Good eye for detail and commitment to high standards of health and safety
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Excellent verbal communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience in the operation of a compactor (training can be provided)
- Understanding of waste types and awareness of risks from hazardous materials
- Experience adhering to health and safety regulations
- Good general education
