Our client, a leading international software and services company, is seeking an experienced Senior IBM Power Infrastructure Engineer to join their highly respected GIS team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting the company's critical Power infrastructure across Power 10, 9, and 8 systems.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure availability of Power infrastructure including HMC, servers, VIOS, IBM i, AIX, and Linux LPARs
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware failures, network issues, and software problems
- Manage business continuity including backup integrity, disaster recovery testing
- Install, configure, and decommission Power servers, VIOS, and LPARs
- Perform regular patching, PTF applies, upgrades for HMCs, firmware, OSes
- Conduct capacity planning and storage management (SAN, array administration)
- Administer PowerVM environments
- Facilitate implementation requests from development and support teams
- Keep up-to-date with Power technology trends and new features
- Assist with documentation and business continuity planning
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Systems Engineer or equivalent
- Strong expertise in at least two platforms (Windows, Linux, UNIX)
- Working knowledge of database technology (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2)
- Proven problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to meet critical deadlines in a self-motivated manner
- IT degree or higher technical qualifications preferred
