Senior Maintenance Engineer

Location: Hatfield

Salary: Up to £41,500 + On Call pay

Hours of Work: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday- Sunday on 7.5hr shifts)

Overview:

Hardman Grey Recruitment is currently seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer on behalf of our client. The Senior Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and engineering of a hospital.

The Senior Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks as per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Address reactive maintenance calls within the Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Ensure all Statutory Insurance Inspections are completed and remedial tasks are resolved.
  • Escalate complex issues requiring specialist involvement.
  • Maintain site safety and compliance with Health & Safety standards.
  • Respond promptly to ad-hoc customer requests.
  • Provide technical advice on site compliance and equipment purchases.
  • Support and implement Corporate engineering initiatives.
  • Offer feedback for improving maintenance processes and manuals.
  • Serve as first-line support for Medical Gases and fire safety, including training and risk assessments.
  • Assist in project management to ensure consistency in standards and specifications.
  • Manage contractor liaison, minor repairs, and on-call coverage.
  • Perform basic property maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.

The ideal Senior Maintenance Engineer candidate will have:

  • A HNC, City & Guilds L3 or NVQ L4 in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • The ability to be available for the on call rota
  • Experience with heating pressure systems and fault finding on pump motors
  • Experience in building maintenance, general maintenance and building service management and engineering
  • Confidence in managing and coordinating contractors and service engineers
  • Understanding of legionella preventative maintenance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A high level of organisational and time management skills
  • Troubleshooting and fault finding skills
  • A HNC, City & Guilds L3 or NVQ L4 in mechanical or electrical engineering
