Associate Counsel (Regulatory and Compliance)

Robert Walters is delighted to exclusively partner with Chelsea Football Club, to assist in recruiting an Associate Counsel to join their Regulatory team. As a member of the Chelsea team, the successful candidate will become part of a club which proudly strives to be the best in everything they do, on and off the pitch.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing accurate, timely and commercially-minded legal advice on a range of regulatory matters, including to members of the Club's senior management.
  • Pro-actively working and assisting in tasks and initiatives to ensure the Club complies with its various legal and statutory obligations.
  • Leading and supporting on the Club's litigation across all departments as required.
  • Providing a positive and solutions-oriented approach to issues and challenges, often in relation to complex and innovative matters.
  • Embracing and demonstrating the Club's values in manner, approach and output.
  • Aligning activities to the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion outcomes.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of efficient legal processes within the Club.
  • Identifying and assuming responsibility for legal and non-legal projects. Working with departments across the Club to deliver projects in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Contributing to the development and roll-out of knowhow across the Club.
  • Working with the Club's external advisors where necessary to ensure value and delivery within required timeframes.

  • Drive and enthusiasm, with an ability to demonstrate pro-active ownership and management of tasks and projects through to completion.
  • Professional with strong technical abilities, and a willingness to continue developing.
  • Excellent inter-personal and team working skills, that inspire trust and confidence both within the Club's legal team and amongst its internal clients.
  • An ability to effectively identify and manage issues and risks. Adopting a positive 'can do' approach when seeking solutions.
  • Effectively manages time and competing demands, escalates and delegates work where appropriate. Keeps senior legal team members well informed of progress on matters.
  • Demonstrates a confident and persuasive communication style (verbal and written) which adapts to the audience and circumstances.
  • Takes pride in the provision of their work. Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to present and communicate complex information in a simple and compelling way
  • Well-organised, with an ability to effectively manage competing demands on occasions.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:

  • 4-5 PQE lawyer (desired level, however this is supplied as a guide and all candidates will be considered on merit); must be qualified to practice law in England and Wales.
  • Training and qualification at a leading City or regional law firm.
  • Demonstrable experience advising on regulatory and/or litigation matters.
