Description

As a Shift Manager you will be ensuring the plant is consistently running over 5 days to ensure the productivity of the targets are achieved with Health and Safety at the core of all our decision making. As part of the senior operational team, you will have the responsibility for the site and especially where day management are not present, to maintain the performance of the department in all aspects of people management, safety, quality, hygiene, and the machines performance, which will also extend to making certain decisions in other key departments such as the corrugator, engineering, and despatch. The role is very varied, no two days are the same, you could be involved in continuous improvements and best practice initiatives one day and working to BRC protocols to maintain our AA accreditation standards the next.

Reporting directly to the Production & Operations Development Manager and with direct responsibility for the Conversion Deputy Shift Manager and operators on your shift, the main responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Ensuring you lead by example by maintaining the highest standards of Health and Safety on your shift.
  • Deliver the production KPIs across the team to achieve the operational plan in all aspects of people management, safety, productivity, quality, hygiene, and machine performance.
  • Ensure the plant runs consistently over the 24/5 period during your shift.
  • Provide engaging and empowering leadership to drive safety standards to achieve operational success.
  • Working as part of the senior operational team, motivate and develop the skills of the team members so the competences and confidence levels of all operators is constantly improving.
  • Plan resources and manage the Time and Attendance system.
  • Working closely with Continuous Improvement to drive the necessary standards and actively engage with ideas and initiatives that will bring improvements and cost savings to the business.
  • Maintaining the levels of site hygiene so visual standards are consistently high and ensuring all departments are following the BRC protocols that are critical for maintaining AA accreditation.
  • Working with the engineering team for the planned PPM and TPM schedules are fully achieved with maximum focus on maximising machine reliability, efficiency and reducing downtime.

Profile

You must have production management experience ideally from working in a Corrugator or Conversion industry. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, guide and coach a team as well as being able to lead by example with your excellent people management skills. You will also have the ability to learn new techniques to convert into best practice, with the energy and enthusiasm to drive the overall business goals and be competent dealing with data and using Microsoft office suite.

Job Offer

  • Salary up to £54k.
  • Current shift pattern is the 3-shift rota, over 5 days, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week which includes a paid half an hour lunch break. This pattern will change in 2025 to a 6-day shift pattern with the expansion of our production manufacturing site which will offer an opportunity for personal development and career progression.
