Join our amazing client, in a dynamic role as an IS Support Specialist, providing 2nd / 3rd Line Support and Systems Administration across two UK manufacturing sites. You'll be immersed in a diverse Windows / Linux environment, showcasing your expertise in virtualisation and networking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of incidents from initiation to resolution, demonstrating unparalleled troubleshooting skills across various technical domains.
- Provide comprehensive Application Support, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting both onsite and remotely via phone, email, and instant messaging.
- Manage virtualisation environments, particularly VMWare, and confidently troubleshoot SQL performance issues in SQL Server.
- Support Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems on mixed server platforms, with proficiency in Linux/Unix System Administration (Redhat, CentOS).
- Conduct advanced Networking and Infrastructure Troubleshooting and Diagnostics, encompassing DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and Firewalls.
- Apply ITIL methodology principles, with certifications considered advantageous.
- Thrive in a fast-paced technological environment, delivering under pressure with precision.
Required Skills:
- Outstanding troubleshooting ability, driven by a passion for resolving complex technical challenges.
- Extensive experience in Application Support and Systems Administration.
- Strong knowledge of VMWare virtualisation and SQL Server.
- Proficiency in Windows with exposure to Linux/Unix (Redhat, CentOS).
- Advanced Networking skills with DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and Firewalls.
- Familiarity with ITIL methodology.
Non-Essential But Highly Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience supporting air gapped networks.
- Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible for infrastructure as code.
- Linux/Unix System Administration skills (RedHat, Ubuntu).
- Knowledge of PCI CPP standards.
- Experience with deployment tools like MDT and WDS.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in a relevant role.
