Role Overview

As a Technology Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing IT infrastructure across a network of educational institutions. You will be responsible for both remote and on-site support, ensuring that schools within your region have robust and effective IT systems. This role also includes providing technical guidance, overseeing procurement, and contributing to the strategic IT planning for the schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IT Infrastructure Management: Audit and assure the IT infrastructure, processes, policies, and people within assigned schools.
  • Technical Onboarding: Lead the technical onboarding process for new schools, supporting them through the initial phase of joining the group.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Provide expert troubleshooting and problem-solving support for network and server systems, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Strategic Input: Contribute to the development and implementation of IT Digital Strategies, including long-term IT replacement planning.
  • Procurement Oversight: Manage medium-scale procurements (£10-£100k) and oversee capital projects, ensuring cost-effective and efficient delivery.
  • Training and Development: Deliver one-to-one training for school technical staff on essential processes and tools.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Extensive experience with networking and server systems.
  • Proficiency in major technologies used in schools, including Office 365, Azure/Entra, PowerShell, and server infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of IT procurement processes and experience managing IT projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Full UK Driving License and willingness to travel within the region.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the educational sector and an understanding of the unique IT challenges faced by schools.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service desk operations.
  • Experience with additional platforms such as Apple IOS/OSX and Google Chrome OS.
