Head of Strategic Procurement

Butler Rose are delighted to be working with a well known public sector sector organisation in the Plymouth area who have a current requirement for a Head of Strategic Procurement. Duties are wide-ranging in scope and include the following:

  • To lead a first-class procurement service across the organisation to drive value for money in terms of quality, price and environmental impact through our supply chain to support Strategic Business Plan objectives and targets.
  • To lead on collaboration with partners and suppliers to increase impact and enhance the sustainability and viability of the supply chain
  • To lead on governance and legal compliance across all areas of the business and ensure strong contract management is consistently in place.
  • To support management and efficient running of fleet and stores services, including staff management as required.
  • The post holder will work in collaboration with the Executive and Senior Management Team colleagues to develop strategic and tactical plans to deliver on the organisation's purpose and ambitions.
  • Demonstrating leadership across the organisation which encourages, by example, all members to do the right thing.
  • Lead on the continuous improvement, and implementation of a first-class procurement and ensure this is delivered across the organisation.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of the Supply Chain Strategy ensuring organisational value, efficiency, innovation in alignment with the Strategic Business Plan.
  • Ensure that procurement strategy contributes to the wider corporate and community strategy objectives aligning with the Environmental, Social and Governance commitments and aspirations
  • Lead on a collaborative approach to procurement across all spending categories and departments and manage these relationships to ensure a cohesive and strategic focus through the best use of available resources.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of Supply Chain projects in accordance with the needs of the business.
  • Provide regular procurement reporting to the Executive Management Team
  • Lead on effective engagement with partner organisations to ensure projects achieve outcomes aligned to the Strategic Business Plan

To be considered you must possess the following skills/experience:

  • Track record in negotiation of major contracts
  • Good people management skills
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of procurement under UK procurement regulations
  • Good understanding of Contract Law and application of the UK directives relating to procurement
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of procurement gained with the Public or Private Sectors.
