A local charity in Carlton, Bedfordshire, is looking for a dedicated Cook/Chef to join their team on a temporary basis. This role offers the opportunity to provide wholesome meals to in-house companions and could potentially lead to a permanent position for the right candidate.
**Cook/Chef
- Location: Carlton, Bedfordshire
- Job Type: Part-time, Temporary (with potential for permanent)
Day-to-day of the role:
- Prepare, cook, and assist in serving lunch and dinner for up to 50 companions at lunchtime and 30 at dinnertime.
- Cater to a variety of tastes with a focus on old-fashioned home-cooked meals, including pasties, jacket potatoes, and salads for lunch, and a single meal option in the evening. Traditional fry-up every Friday. Roast dinner every Sunday.
- Ensure the dining and kitchen areas are clean by wiping down tables, assisting with washing up, and maintaining overall kitchen cleanliness.
- Work collaboratively with another staff member to provide a pleasant dining experience for companions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Ability to prepare and cook meals for many people.
- Knowledge of basic food hygiene and safety practices.
- Good organisational skills to manage the preparation and serving of two main meals.
- A basic DBS check will be required to start this role.
