We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic team on a full-time basis in Hemel Hempstead. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting a young student with autism, ensuring they have the best possible educational experience. Your role will involve working closely with the classroom teacher and the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to provide tailored support that meets the child's individual needs.

SEN Primary Teaching Assistant - Autism Support

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Salary: H2 to H4

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one support to a student with autism, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop essential social and academic skills.

Assist the classroom teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities that cater to the student's specific needs.

Implement individualised education plans and support the child in achieving their learning goals.

Use a range of strategies to manage and support the student's behaviour, promoting a calm and positive learning environment.

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to monitor and report on the child's progress.

Encourage the student's independence, confidence, and social interaction with peers.

Contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment for all students.

Who we are looking for:

Experience: Previous experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs is highly desirable.

Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.

Qualities: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.

Knowledge: An understanding of autism and effective strategies for supporting students with ASD in a classroom setting.

Commitment: A proactive and flexible approach, with a strong commitment to inclusive education and the wellbeing of all students.
