Supply Teaching Assistant

  • Hours: 7 - 7.5 hours per day
  • Location: Gateshead

Reed Education is a provider of choice for supply cover for Teaching Assistants to work within an inclusive and vibrant school community. The successful candidates will support children with a variety of learning and behavioural needs, including those with physical disabilities and autism. The Teaching assistants must be passionate about child development and show flexibility to work with a range of pupils.

Day to day of the Supply Teaching Assistant role:

  • Assist experienced class teachers in the delivery of lessons.
  • Support children with additional needs to enable them to access the mainstream curriculum.
  • Deliver bespoke 1:1 interventions to help meet EHCP targets.
  • Work as part of a team to create a positive and supportive learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications for the Supply Teaching Assistant role :

  • Ability to respond to instructions quickly.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with pupils.
  • Good computing, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • High expectations of learning and behaviour, with the ability to inspire and motivate children.
  • Supportive, nurturing, and understanding approach, with high expectations.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated recent strong classroom practice.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of humour.
  • Experience of supporting learners with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) is desirable.
