Location: Bromley, Kent

Pay: £18.57 per hour

Temporary role until July 2025

About Our Client:

We are working on behalf of a leading educational institution in Kent, renowned for its wide range of academic and vocational programs across multiple campuses in Southeast London. This institution is dedicated to delivering high-quality education and training to a diverse student population, including school leavers and adult learners. With courses in business, health and social care, engineering, creative arts, and more, they offer both full-time and part-time study options.

Role Overview:

Our client is seeking a Senior Safeguarding Officer who is available to start immediately on a temporary basis.

Key Responsibilities for the role of Senior Safeguarding Officer

  • Deliver a holistic approach to safeguarding of College students whether participating in learning on or off-site
  • Work closely with students, staff and other safeguarding officers across the allocated College sites as well as referral to and liaison with external stakeholders including local authorities, and attendance at regular meetings both internal and external
  • Embrace and work with the objectives and vision of the College, ensuring that College values are maintained and implemented
  • Work with the Safeguarding Manager (DDSL) Bromley/Orpington to ensure the College meets all statutory obligations in relation to safeguarding
  • Deliver safeguarding/Prevent training programmes as required, attend relevant regular meetings (internal and external) disseminate information and updates to staff in line with KCSIE 2024
  • Contribute to the development of partnership working with external agencies relevant to the effective discharge of this role
  • Fulfil the role and responsibilities of a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead in compliance with the requirements set out in KCSIE (2024)
  • Willingness to work variable hours when necessary to meet the requirements of the post, including evening work
  • Travel between the College's sites and other locations as required
  • Deputise for the Safeguarding Manager for Bromley/Orpington

Qualifications and Experience for the role of Senior Safeguarding Officer

  • Relevant qualifications in safeguarding/prepared to work towards these
  • Experience of teaching and/or delivering presentations and staff training
  • An understanding of an educational/training environment
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of 'Keeping Children Safe in Education', Working together to Safeguard Children and effective safeguarding practice
  • The ability to give clear and objective advice to senior/colleagues on safeguarding matters
  • Proven track record of problem solving and identifying solutions
  • Experience of liaising effectively with staff, students and external agencies
