One of the well-known trusts in North London is looking for an experienced, dynamic midwife to provide women-centered care within several settings to enable them to achieve their desired birthing experience. The role involves working collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team and management to provide a high standard of safe, women-centered care.
Description:
This is a rotational post, requiring work in all areas within the Maternity Services, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care. The role involves participating in future service developments and continuing professional development.
- Provide high-standard midwifery care to mother and baby, supporting the family unit.
- Regularly take charge of the Ward/Department in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility.
- Participate in the IPR process, supervising, mentoring, and providing preceptorship for junior staff.
- Teach, lead, and manage qualified staff, students, and student midwives.
- Rotate between clinical areas to cover service needs and demands at times of escalation.
Skills & Experience:
- Valid NMC registration as a Midwife with community experience.
- Introduction to IV cannulations, suturing, scrubbing in theatre, epidural top-ups, and resuscitation of newborns.
- Ability to evaluate midwifery care.
- Knowledge of NMC Midwives Rules, Code of Practice, The Scope of Professional Practice, and Standards for the Administration of Medicines.
- Adaptability to new working practices.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal calmly and courteously with difficult people.
- Flexible working hours and adaptable approach to working within the Unit.
- Able to meet practical requirements, such as cross-site shift patterns.
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance.
