Risk Analyst

Working for an Insurance firm in the City of London, I am looking for a Risk Analyst to join their team on an initial 6-month contract. This will report into the Head of Risk Management who has a hands-on, supportive approach. An insurance background would be preferable but financial services will be considered

The Role

Maintain the Risk Registers of the client and subsidiaries, ensuring that the status of risks and controls remain current and appropriate, including analysis of breaches of control.

Support and coordinate the on-going Risk Workshop process for the client and its subsidiaries in order to ensure the ongoing maintenance and continuous review of their risk profiles and associated risk management activities.

Support existing risk reporting for internal and external clients' needs, including the on-going co-ordination and production of Key Risk Indicators, monitoring the Group's and its entities' adherence to Risk Appetite.

Support the ongoing maintenance of the client and subsidiaries Risk Management Framework including documentation of policies and procedures.

Assist in the development and maintenance of an Issues and Risks Log for the Group and its subsidiaries, ensuring they remain current.

Support the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment process for client and subsidiaries as required by the Head of Risk Management.

Support the liaison with the business and insurance broker to complete the proposal forms for the annual renewal of group insurance and any subsequent notifications of circumstances, losses, or business developments.

Take notes/ produce draft minutes of key Risk Management related meetings as required.

Liaise with the other "first, second and third line" functions (Compliance, Actuarial, Internal Audit, Risk and Control Owners within the functional Areas etc.) to ensure a coordinated approach to managing risks within the organisation.

Support the wider Enterprise Risk Management team in developing the Risk Management Framework.

Provide support to the Emerging Risk Focus Group as well as specific climate change and ESG initiatives as appropriate.

Contribute to any relevant Risk Management training and skills development efforts for all staff involved in Risk Management through the production of training documents.

Complete duties as assigned

To maintain compliance with any applicable UK or International statutory or regulatory obligation as required by the role. This includes but not limited to obligations arising from:

  • The prudent management of the business.
  • Placing due regard on the interests of customers.
  • Observing rules on Sanctions and financial crime.
  • Regulatory requirements and local licensing restrictions.
  • Promoting and follow the Group's whistleblowing procedures.
  • Where applicable, following the Company's Consumer Duty principles to deliver good outcomes for retail customers
