Primary Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children during their journey in education and making a positive difference in their lives? Long Term Teachers is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a large community primary school we work closely with in Paignton.

The school has the opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to start a full-time position in September, with the flexibility to work part-time for the right candidate. The Primary operates at the heart of the community, offering aspirational learning and opportunities to trasnform the lives of its pupils.

Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Paignton, Devon
Contract: Full-time and/or part-time

Requirements:

  • Experience working with primary aged children
  • Understanding of different SEN needs and strategies for support
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior plans
  • Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to meet the individual needs of students
