VIQU have partnered with a leading global IT & Cloud Service Provider in the UK. They are seeking a Head of Infrastructure to leverage their technical, strategic, and managerial expertise to oversee the IT infrastructure and ensure robust support for both current and future needs. The Head of Infrastructure will also manage 6 sub teams across the organisation.

The role will be divided between the technical and leadership responsibilities. 50% of the role will be to serve as the technical authority for the business, leveraging your expertise to lead infrastructure services, drive the implementation of new technologies, and oversee the architecture of IT infrastructure. The other 50% of the role will be dedicated to leadership responsibilities, including guiding and managing your team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, mentoring team members, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

This is a fully remote role with travel when needed to offices in Birmingham, London and York.

Responsibilities of the Head of Infrastructure:

  • Develop and deliver a strategic technology roadmap that aligns with the long-term organisational goals
  • Assist in the architecture of IT infrastructure, including cloud services (Azure), networks, servers, storage, databases.
  • Review and validate your team's work to ensure accuracy and adherence to industry best practices, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in all infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure all services adhere to stringent security and compliance standards (i.e. ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA), implementing necessary measures to protect data and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Manage vendors and service providers for infrastructure-related products and services, handling contract negotiations and keeping strong relationships to secure favourable terms and conditions.
  • Manage and mitigate risks related to the IT infrastructure, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and developing strategies to minimise impact and ensure business continuity.
  • Lead your team by example through fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, while providing guidance and professional development opportunities.

Essential Experience required of the Head of Infrastructure:

  • Demonstrated success in managing infrastructure, operations, and engineering teams, ensuring high performance and productivity.
  • Extensive experience with key infrastructure technologies, including networking, virtualisation, cloud computing, and server administration, ensuring robust and reliable IT environments.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role such as 'Head of,' with responsibility for multiple sub-teams, driving cohesive and efficient team operations.
  • Comprehensive expertise in infrastructure design, implementation, and management, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights, maximising opportunities and driving strategic improvements.
  • A passion for technology and a commitment to staying abreast with the latest advancements.
