A Level 3 Nursery Practitioner is responsible for providing high-quality early years education and care for children, typically aged from birth to five years. This role involves creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children.

Job Summary:

The Level 3 Nursery Practitioner is responsible for delivering outstanding early years education and care to children, ensuring their safety and well-being, and supporting their developmental progress through planned activities and observations.

Key Responsibilities:

Childcare and Education:

  • Plan and deliver a range of stimulating, age-appropriate activities that encourage children's development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Monitor, assess, and record children's progress through regular observations and maintain accurate records in their individual learning journals.
  • Support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development by providing a caring and nurturing environment.
  • Encourage children's independence and self-help skills.

Safety and Welfare:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained.
  • Administer first aid when necessary and manage any accidents or incidents in accordance with nursery policies.

Communication and Partnership:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and carers, providing regular feedback on children's progress and development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child's care and education.
  • Participate in parents' evenings, open days, and other nursery events as required.

Professional Development:

  • Stay up-to-date with current early years practice and undertake regular training and professional development.
  • Reflect on and evaluate your own practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of the nursery.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting.
  • A thorough understanding of the EYFS framework.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A caring and patient nature.

Additional Requirements:

  • A current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate. We can apply for this if required.
  • Paediatric First Aid certification.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, typically 35-40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Some flexibility may be required for attending nursery events or training outside standard hours.
  • Working in a nursery environment with potential exposure to outdoor weather conditions during play activities.
