Equipment Supervisor

Summary of Role:

As an Equipment Supervisor you will be playing a pivotal role within the operations of the company and be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • The overall supervision of the department and technicians/operatives within the department to include agency staff, lighting technicians, warehouse operatives and trainees.
  • Encourage an ethos of continual improvement and development of the department.
  • Training technicians within the department to ensure all technicians can complete all responsibilities to a high standard. Testing and quality checks, picking and scanning of jobs using our in-house system. Asset and storage control measures; putting the right equipment away and storing it correctly.
  • Communicating with the equipment control team in a timely manner regarding order shortages and substitutions.
  • Liaising with the Sales and Inventory teams as required to deal with stock queries and special requirements.
  • Ensuring all equipment sent out for jobs meets all the company's quality checks and standards.
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently and meet strict deadlines whilst adhering to the priorities of the business.
  • Manage returning rental stock effectively to ensure smooth flow of equipment around the department.
  • Originating and contributing to documentation for training purposes, to include procedures and competency skillsets.
  • To ensure all staff are fully trained to fulfil all roles within the department and to continuously review all existing team member's competences and where required, retrain to ensure correct use of systems, correct handling of equipment, correct storage of equipment and understanding of all relevant procedures.
  • To highlight individuals for potential areas of upskilling within the department and across other areas of the business.
  • Support and supervise other departments when required.
  • Leading by example, ensure allocated breaks are adhered to at all times, referring any consistent offenders to the Equipment Shift Manager.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism at all times, communicating calmly and respectfully to Technicians, colleagues and managers. Escalate any issues or concerns in a timely and constructive manner to the Equipment Manager or Operations Manager.

Asset Management, Storage & Quality Control:

  • Looking for continual improvement in terms of departmental changes and storage solutions for the equipment.
  • To ensure all processes and systems relating to the department are adhered to.
  • To develop the storage solutions to improve asset management and controls.
  • To immediately escalate any areas of concern relating to inventory and asset control to the Operational Management team.
  • Assisting the Inventory team with stock checks, pre audit prep and other ad-hoc requirements as necessary.
  • Review and implement efficient control and streamlined handling of returning stock during peak cycles in conjunction with the Management Operations Group.
  • Work with the senior management team to review, develop and implement improved stock handling systems within the department, improving accuracy & efficiency while reducing strain and injury risk to Equipment Technicians while undertaking departmental functions.
  • To have a strong attention to detail, ensuring all equipment is compliant with electrical and mechanicaltesting regimes and company quality control measures.
  • To ensure all equipment leaving your department is quality checked prior to departure, ensuring the highest standards of quality and service levels are maintained.
  • To ensure any shortages are highlighted and raised to the relevant Equipment Coordinator team as a matter of urgency.
  • To ensure all non-coded and non-branded (where relevant) equipment is taken out of service to be coded in conjunction with the inventory team's availability to do so.

Health & Safety:

  • Leading by example, at all times demonstrate a commitment to driving a culture of safety across the departmental teams.
  • To ensure all health and safety policies are followed within the departments, including manual handling, use of mechanical handling equipment and safe storage of equipment.
  • At all times maintain clear pedestrian and evacuation routes through the department. To also prevent any stored equipment or handling equipment from presenting a hazard.
  • Positively challenge instances of non-compliance within the warehouse and yard in relation to health & safety policies.
  • Escalate areas of concern through the correct channels.

Essential Skills:

  • Driven to achieve and maintain the highest quality and service standards.
  • Must be IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft office software.
  • Good understanding of operating systems such as RT Pro inventory tracking system, Microsoft Teams.
  • Demonstrating a positive approach to the company whilst reacting to the high demands of the business.
  • Very good communication skills.
  • Adaptable and willingness to learn.
  • Flexible to work overtime and occasional weekends as the needs to the business require.
