A fantastic Design Manager position has been created within a high calibre main contractor in central London to lead on a new project.

Client Details

This SME main contractor has grown impressively in the last 4 years consistently delivering high quality projects across the commercial, hotel, and residential sectors. They have a fantastic leadership team, and in particular the Design Director has an excellent track record of developing his teams. The organisation operates professionally and with integrity, always looking to do the right thing. They generally operate in the office or on site, but some work from home is on offer.

Description

As the Design Manager you will have lead responsibility for a £20m-£40m scheme. Typical projects all include different complexities through existing buildings, proposed façade systems, and design sensitivities which will offer an excellent challenge. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordination with the design team from stage 3 onwards to produce accurate and buildable technical drawings
  • Management of sub-contractors to secure accurate design information in line with design briefs and their appointed scope
  • Oversight of design fees and expenditure
  • Supporting the build teams with technical queries, RFIs, build solutions, etc.
  • Client reporting and communication throughout the project

Profile

As a strong applicant for this Design Manager position you will:

  • Ideally have a design background (architecture, technologist, engineer, etc.)
  • Demonstrate previous experience in a design coordinator or design manager in a main contractor
  • Have worked RIBA stages 3-7 on a single project in the lead position
  • Preferably demonstrate high quality cut & carve project experience (commercial or hotel sectors is advantageous)

You must have the right to work in the UK and you will be comfortable working between the central London office and London sites (generally within zone 2).

Job Offer

The offer to the successful candidate will be between £65,000-£75,000 (depending on experience) + £5000 car allowance and benefits including pension, travel expenses, private medical, and 25 days annual leave.
