New Product Development Manager

Salary:

£45,000 base with potential OTE of £70,000 annually based on performance

Role Overview:

The New Product Development Manager will be instrumental in taking new products to market, managing the transition from prototype to manufacturing. This role involves working closely with contract manufacturers, sourcing components, and overseeing the entire product development roadmap. The position requires on-site work at factories and travel to meet with customers and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development: Lead the transition from 3D printed prototypes to production-ready products, ensuring manufacturing readiness within a 6-month window.
  • Manufacturing Liaison: Work closely with contract manufacturers to optimize production processes, source components, and manage the product development lifecycle.
  • Project Management: Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure timely product launches.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the company at trade exhibitions, conferences, and meetings, providing technical information and demonstrations.
  • Market Introduction: Work with contract designers and prototype developers to bring products to market-ready status, aiming for product launch by February next year.
  • Growth Potential: Opportunity to lead a team within a year, contributing to the company's ambitious growth targets.

Candidate Background:

  • Experience: Proven experience in product development, manufacturing processes, and project management. Background in electronics, plastics, or automotive industries is beneficial.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with plastics development, injection molding, and packaging. Familiarity with working on factory shop floors and bringing products to market through manufacturing processes.
  • Innovation: Demonstrated ability to develop new products and drive innovation.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with major manufacturers like Sony, Panasonic, or companies undergoing downsizing such as Tata Steel.
  • Educational Background: HND to PhD level in relevant fields.
