About our client

A pioneering industrial service business in the West Midlands. The business is profitable and the fastest growing business in their sector in the UK. Growth is being driven organically and via strategic acquisitions. Following recent private equity investment, the company is looking to recruit a CFO to lead the business through its investment cycle.

The Role

As a key member of the Executive Board, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in the West Midlands, will provide finance leadership and direction and support to help delivery of the operational and commercial strategy that will achieve the company's profitable growth aspirations. They will be instrumental in the day to day running of the business, advising on all matters relating to financial performance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Board to create and deliver growth strategies and key business changes by providing a financial perspective and challenging decision making accordingly
  • Participating in the review of M&A opportunities, organising due diligence, execution, and subsequent integration
  • Leading the design and production of the monthly board pack
  • Development of management reporting and building new analysis and group MI to support decision-making based on data and analytics
  • Appraising capital allocation choices ensuring alignment with strategy and key performance metrics and helping to evaluate priority areas for investment and growth
  • Leading and developing a finance team to support business growth
  • Leading the budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes
  • Responsibility for all statutory, financial, and legal requirements
  • Management of the cost base and reviewing new opportunities to deliver on growth plans, whilst maintaining strong levels of profitability

Candidate Profile

  • For this CFO opportunity in the West Midlands, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and ideally an experienced CFO
  • Previous private equity experience is essential, ideally in a high growth, buy and build environment, with rapid expansion. Allied to this, you will also have led the financial elements of a successful exit
  • Candidates looking to step up into their first CFO role will be considered, who fulfil the essential requirements above in a deputy role
  • Fit with a high-growth innovative company will be key
  • A good balance of strategic vision and hands on operating style to consistently deliver progress in a non-hierarchical organisational structure
  • A commercial outlook with the ability to take decisive action and deliver
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to improve performance and processes
  • Drive and energy and a can-do attitude
