I am working closely with a leading law firm in Hertfordshire to help them recruit a
Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialist
at either
Associate
,
Senior Associate
, or
Partner

The Role:
You will play a vital role in advising key clients on contentious trusts and probate matters, helping to grow an already successful and highly regarded team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on the removal of executors or trustees
- Making or defending claims against executors or trustees
- Challenging the validity of Wills or the terms of Trusts
- Handling Inheritance Act claims, succession disputes, and Court of Protection matters
- Managing Power of Attorney disputes
- Liaising with third parties, experts, and other specialists to deliver comprehensive legal solutions
Additionally, you will build strong relationships with clients and colleagues, supervise junior staff, and actively engage in marketing and business development to bring in new work for the team.

- Lifetime Planning – Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection, and professional deputyship services
- Wealth Protection and Estate Planning – Inheritance tax planning, estate administration, and Wills
- Trusts – Setting up and managing trusts with a dedicated team of specialists
What the Firm is Looking For:
The firm is looking for someone with a
minimum of 8 years' experience
in contentious probate, who is enthusiastic about growing this area of law. The ideal candidate will also possess:
- A solid working knowledge of contested trusts and probate best practices, including the Inheritance Act
- A current partner of a firm or in their career where they are leading towards partner level.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Excellent IT and case management skills, with experience in electronic filing
- The ability to supervise junior staff and contribute to the wider development of the team
An
industry-specific qualification
such as
ACTAPS
or
SFE
would be highly desirable, but not essential.
