Premises Manager

We are inviting applications for the role of Premises Manager at a thriving primary school in Wakefield. The successful candidate will be integral to our school community, overseeing the maintenance, security, and development of the school premises.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Oversee the physical condition of the building, furniture, and equipment to ensure they are in good repair.
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff by managing maintenance tasks, repairs, and improvements.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to plan and execute premises development projects.
- Manage other site staff, including the allocation and monitoring of work and performance appraisal.
- Oversee external contractors working on-site and establish constructive relationships and communication with contractors and other agencies/professionals.
- Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
- Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the school.
- Ensure safe use by self and others of equipment and materials.
- Present a positive personal image, contributing to a welcoming school environment which supports equal opportunities for all.
- Promote and ensure the health and safety of pupils, staff, and visitors at all times in accordance with appropriate health & safety legislation.
- Undertake various tasks related to the general maintenance of the premises.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in premises management or a similar role.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and the ability to enforce these regulations.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A commitment to the ethos and values of the school.
- Ability to work flexibly and respond to the needs of the school.
