We are inviting applications for the role of Premises Manager at a thriving primary school in Wakefield. The successful candidate will be integral to our school community, overseeing the maintenance, security, and development of the school premises.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the physical condition of the building, furniture, and equipment to ensure they are in good repair.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff by managing maintenance tasks, repairs, and improvements.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to plan and execute premises development projects.
  • Manage other site staff, including the allocation and monitoring of work and performance appraisal.
  • Oversee external contractors working on-site and establish constructive relationships and communication with contractors and other agencies/professionals.
  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the school.
  • Ensure safe use by self and others of equipment and materials.
  • Present a positive personal image, contributing to a welcoming school environment which supports equal opportunities for all.
  • Promote and ensure the health and safety of pupils, staff, and visitors at all times in accordance with appropriate health & safety legislation.
  • Undertake various tasks related to the general maintenance of the premises.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in premises management or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and the ability to enforce these regulations.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A commitment to the ethos and values of the school.
  • Ability to work flexibly and respond to the needs of the school.
