Job Summary:

The Dependency and Recovery Service is committed to supporting adult male prison leavers and individuals on community orders within the Probation Services. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support, foster recovery, and reduce re-offending through a multi-disciplinary and flexible approach.

Location: Bexley, Lewisham and Orpington

Work hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £25,154.00 - £30,742.00

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work within a hybrid model across a cluster of community delivery sites in London.
  • Carry a diverse caseload, supporting clients to implement action plans and navigate their recovery journey.
  • Build trust and provide continuity of support, including signposting to relevant agencies.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments and create collaborative action plans.
  • Deliver structured one-to-one, group work, and virtual sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to targets set by Forward Trust and local commissioners.
  • Work flexibly across London to meet changing demands.
  • Conduct risk and comprehensive assessments.
  • Develop and maintain action plans and complete session/end-of-service reports.
  • Facilitate both individual and group interventions.
  • Maintain live records in the Refer and Monitor system.
  • Collaborate effectively with probation, substance misuse services, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in key meetings and contribute to multi-disciplinary reviews.
  • Monitor and update records on engagement and risk factors.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Support clients in attending community appointments.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice sector.
  • Experience in substance misuse or related fields.
  • Demonstrable experience managing high caseloads and conducting comprehensive assessments.
  • Proficiency in delivering motivational, trauma-informed interventions.
  • Ability to work effectively with key partners.
  • Strong communication skills and professional boundary management.
  • Understanding of equal opportunity and GDPR requirements.
  • Level 3 qualification related to substance misuse or relevant experience**.**
  • Proactive and quick-thinking with a high level of initiative.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to solve problems.
  • Confident with clear communication skills.
  • Team player who works harmoniously with colleagues.
  • Open to constructive feedback for continuous improvement.

Desirable:

  • Personal experience of addiction recovery (3+ years clean time) or imprisonment (released 5+ years ago).
  • Experience providing counselling services to individuals with health, wellbeing, or substance misuse issues.
  • Knowledge of the 12-step recovery process.
  • Previous experience as a subject matter expert in areas such as BAME groups or specific needs like chemsex.

A current DBS is required for this role, which we can process for you and HMPPS Enhanced Level 1 vetting.
