An excellent opportunity for Senior System Administrator with solid commercial experience has become available for a growing client that are one of the market leaders in their field.

This role is responsible for supporting IT systems, providing technical project resource, and delivering support elements of the ITIL ITSM framework.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide 2nd to 3rd line support for all core IT systems, including user management, system upgrades, patching, releases, and fault resolution.
  • Provide 2nd to 3rd line support for all non-core IT systems, including user management, system upgrades, patching, releases, and fault resolution.
  • Provide 2nd to 3rd line hardware support for all network infrastructure and operating systems, including system builds and upgrades, patching, releases and fault resolution - this will require a deep understanding of a number of hardware and infrastructure technologies including MS Server 2012/16, Azure, Office 365 product suite, VMWare, backup technologies, telephony systems, Cisco IOS, Cisco Meraki administration, network patching, Active Directory, WAN technologies, SQL databases, SharePoint administration, MS Teams administration, MS forms, MS Power BI and Apps.
  • Work as part of the resolver team to resolve incidents by priority within agreed SLAs
  • Analyse incidents to identify trends and work to reduce repeated incidents.
  • Provide out of hours support for major incidents and upgrades as required.
  • Work within an ITIL ITSM framework to ensure consistent process is followed, including attendance at meetings for Change, Release, Problem, and any other processes identified by the Senior IT Manager.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting as requested by IT management.
  • Deputise for the Senior IT Manager as required.
  • Attend a daily communications to update colleagues/ management with relevant information.
  • Ensure hardware and software assets are managed, using appropriate tools to ensure the team are not paying for more than necessary, all users are known and justified, and are paying all relevant licencing and support costs.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, MS Server 2012/16, Azure, Office 365 product suite, VMWare, backup technologies, telephony systems, Cisco IOS, Cisco Meraki administration, network patching, Active Directory, WAN technologies, SQL databases, SharePoint administration, MS Teams administration, MS forms, MS Power BI and Apps
  • Knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, networking, and security protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • Must hold a current driving license
  • Ability and willingness to travel as necessary within the UK as necessary
  • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience

Desirable:

  • Experience working to ISO27001 standards
  • Experience of working in a secure data environment
