Job Title: Speech and Language Teaching Assistant

Location: Ealing

Employment Type: Full-time, Contract (Mon - Fri, 8:15am - 4pm)

Start Date: September (Trialling Now)

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech and Language Therapy Teaching Assistant to join our team at a secondary school in Ealing. This full-time position involves working 1:1 with a Year 8 student with hypophosphatasia and metabolic bone disease, and speech and language difficulties. The role includes accompanying and assisting the student with speech therapy sessions, as well as supporting them acadmeically and physically.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**

- Provide 1:1 support to a Year 8 student with specific medical and speech and language needs.
- Assist the student during speech therapy sessions, reinforcing strategies and exercises provided by the speech therapist.
- Develop and implement individualized support plans tailored to the student's needs.
- Monitor and report on the student's progress, adapting support strategies as necessary.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages the student's social, emotional, and academic development.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive support for the student.
- Support the student during classroom activities, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
- Maintain open communication with the student's parents or guardians, providing regular updates on progress and any concerns.

  • *Requirements:**

- Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with speech and language difficulties.
- Understanding of hypophosphatasia and metabolic bone disease, or willingness to learn about these conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
