Join Our Client's Team as a Building Control Surveyor!

As a Building Control Surveyor, you'll play a crucial role in protecting the health, safety, welfare, and convenience of people in and around buildings and structures. Your work will ensure that all building projects meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Details:

  • Job: Building Control Surveyor
  • Client: Leicester City Council
  • Hours: £19.33-20.67 per hour PAYE – Monday to Friday
  • Address: Council Offices and site visits around the area (Charles street and Rutland street, Leicester, LE1 1FZ) / Hybrid working is available with 3 days on-site each week
  • Start date: September 2024
  • End date November 2024

What will you do?

  • Plan Review: Examine deposited plans to ensure proposed work meets all relevant requirements, give advice and architects, engineers and the general public regarding Building Control requirements
  • Site Inspections: Conduct thorough site visits to verify that building work complies with the Building Act and other legislation, also make visits to sports grounds which are subject to the Sports Grounds Act
  • Safety Checks: Inspect sites, report, and take action on dangerous structures and demolition sites
  • Enforcement: Implement enforcement procedures for non-compliant building work
  • Advisory Role: Provide expert advice to architects, engineers, and the public on Building Control requirements
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Fire Service, Severn Trent, Environment Agency, and other agencies
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all site visits in accordance with stated procedures

What you will have?

  • Relevant diploma or degree in Building Construction or Building Control or Building Surveying
  • Thorough knowledge of current Building Regulations and associated legislation, especially fire safety
  • Experience in enforcement procedures and compliance checks.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with internal and external agencies, authorities
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and manage multiple projects.
