Management Accountant (Public Sector)
Salary: £25 - £27 per hour
Employment: 4-6 months temporary assignment, full-time
Reed Accountancy is partnered with an established and highly reputable Public Sector Body in Ballymena in the appointment of an experienced Management Accountant to work full-time on a temporary 4–6-month basis (with possible extension).
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate and plan the preparation of the body's revenue and capital estimates to enable the body to agree spending plans.
- Provide relevant expenditure and income reports and analysis at various levels of detail to assist management in the rates refinement process.
- Responsible for the management, maintenance and development of body's codified accounting system.
- Liaise with budget holders to provide impartial advice to enable them to understand the financial information produced and effect improved budgetary control.
- Ensuring the accounting system is capable of supplying the needs of the budget holder whilst being mindful of financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure that all banking and cash handling within all Body locations is to a high level of governance
- Responsible for implementing and policing control systems within Finance Department to ensure accurate processing and reconciliation of transactions in all core ledgers.
- Ensure the Body puts in place effective internal financial controls covering codified guidance, budgetary systems, supervision, segregation of duties, accounting procedures and information systems.
- Ensure all accounting policies and procedures are regularly reviewed, updated and adhered to so that they comply with all statutory requirements.
- Assist with year-end production of accounts as and when required.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Hold a professional qualification with a recognised accountancy body (ACCA, ACA, CCAB or CIMA) (CCAB includes; ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS, ICAI) OR be part-qualified (at least 50% of qualification).
- Be able to demonstrate successful management and development of a team, leading on budget setting process.
- Experience of proactively managing financial controls to the highest level of governance.
