The Company
We are working with a market leader who are experiencing significant growth. They are looking to add a Transport Supervisor to their team at the Colchester depot, on a permanent basis.
You will be joining a team of experienced industry professionals with a chance to progress your career within a growing business with an excellent brand reputation. This role gives a chance for someone to lead the Transport function at a blue chip organisation.
The Role
Working Monday-Friday from the Colchester depot, the Transport Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and compliance of the department whilst ensuring employees are motivated, working safely towards a common goal and maximising productivity.
You would be fully accountable for all people management, legal, operational, health and safety, Food Safety and environmental legislation; whilst achieving the best possible level of service to internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Achievement of the daily/weekly/monthly KPI's through effective guidance and Ensure all daily/weekly/monthly KPI's are monitored and achieved or exceeded through utilisation and interpretation of relevant data.
- Manage and coach individuals to perform to their maximum potential through a balanced approach of recognition and managing performance against agreed KPI's.
- Manage all resources including commercial vehicles, cages, pallets and sack barrows.
- Allocate work in a consistent manner in line with individual / team capability and legal driving hours to achieve targets.
- Manages and delivers briefings to the team to ensure they are aware of, and adhere to all company messages, policies and procedures.
- Communicates effectively with individuals at all levels including those on different shifts and in different departments
- Promote and manage all QHSE, Fleet and Sustainability standards, focussing on team safety and wellbeing in accordance with the relevant policies.
- Conduct quality investigations when required to understand and establish root causes to take corrective and preventative action or escalate where necessary.
- Ensure stock is managed to reduce damage and ensure cost and customer availability KPI's are met.
- Set clear expectations including KPI, safety and team behaviours to all direct reports by setting annual objectives. Hold regular one to ones to review objectives and perform end of year appraisal.
What We Are Looking For
The Transport Supervisor will ideally have experience in a similar role and be a forward-thinking individual with attention to detail & the ability to implement change within the transport function.
Ideally you will be/have:
- Experience in a multi-drop fresh produce environment is highly beneficial.
- Previous management experience within a fast moving transport environment.
- Previous experience with planning, distribution software
- Proven ability to lead and motivate transport teams, with excellent people management and employee relation skills
- Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Have thorough working knowledge of transport, Food Safety, Health and Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Be able to work with agreed budgets on cost and headcount.
- Be a professional manager with inspirational, motivation and management skills.
- Be proactive and visualise the bigger picture.
- Be a team player within the peer and able to offer ideas and solutions to improve service to our Customers
