Medical Director/Consultant Psychiatrist

Salary: Up to £160,000

Our client is a highly regarded provider of inpatient mental health services - They are committed to offering a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to treatment.

This exciting opportunity allows you to work within a service focused on providing a safe, stabilising environment for patients in crisis or requiring emergency admission.

The ideal candidate will be a fully GMC registered Consultant Psychiatrist with significant experience in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnosis. They will have a strong commitment to delivering exceptional care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

For this role, you will need:

  • Full GMC registration with a relevant medical qualification.
  • Proven experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Strong leadership and clinical skills, with extensive experience in line management and effective communication.
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of clinical governance.
  • Skilled in conducting medical appraisals, providing clinical supervision, and managing cases effectively.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Work within a dynamic multidisciplinary team (MDT) to assess, treat, and stabilise service users.
  • Take overall responsibility for treatment plans in collaboration with the MDT.
  • Perform examinations, diagnoses, and treatment for service users.
  • Lead risk assessments, risk management, and the embedding of clinical governance within the service.
  • Participate in ward rounds, clinical audits, and reviews of Mental Health Act documentation.
  • Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers' hearings and attend hearings as necessary.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff, supporting their development.
  • Participate in the telephone on-call rota.
