A new exciting position has become available to work with a fast-growing software company providing systems to global leading retailers. They are looking for a Java Developer to work within an experienced team of Java developers.

You will be working on a Java enterprise retail system, engaging in a variety of projects from phone and handheld development to web applications and web services. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for software design and a desire to be involved in the full life cycle development process.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Develop high-quality, testable, and well-documented software.
  • Work closely with Technical Architects and Development Managers to turn functional and technical specifications into production-quality software.
  • Participate in configuration, testing, and release processes.
  • Ensure adequate test coverage at unit and integration levels.
  • Contribute to design and specification processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years' experience in Java and web application development.
  • A first/upper second degree (BSc) in a technical subject.
  • Core skills in Java, JDBC, JSP, SQL, MVC framework, and Web Services.
  • An interest in software design and involvement in the whole life cycle development process.
  • Good Java programming skills and exposure to database development.
  • Working knowledge of XML or JSON and web development experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, effective use of design patterns, and unit testing frameworks.
  • Team working skills and good communication abilities.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with databases such as MariaDB/MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle.
  • Frontend web development with React, Angular, Vue.
  • Mobile app development on iOS/Android.
  • Familiarity with Eclipse, Maven, Gradle, J2EE containers like Tomcat, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Cloud services such as AWS, Azure, version control systems like Subversion or Git.
  • SOA, Web Services, and XML to Java binding technologies like JAXB.
  • J2EE application frameworks like JSF, Spring, Struts.
