Job Description:

As a Literacy and Numeracy Academic Mentor, you will work closely with students to improve their literacy and numeracy skills, providing targeted support and intervention to help them achieve their full potential. This role involves one-on-one tutoring, small group sessions, and collaboration with teachers to develop and implement effective learning strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students struggling with literacy and numeracy, utilizing a range of teaching methods and resources.
  • Work with teachers to identify students in need of additional support and develop individualized learning plans.
  • Conduct one-on-one and small group sessions to reinforce classroom learning and address specific areas of difficulty.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to students, teachers, and parents.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of intervention programs to enhance literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Create a positive and encouraging learning environment that fosters student engagement and confidence.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and resources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring students, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
  • Strong understanding of literacy and numeracy concepts and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and resources to support learning.
