This role will focus on:

The Facilities Engineer will be tasked with overseeing the mechanical and electrical infrastructure maintenance at our manufacturing site. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Facilities Manager, this role is crucial for ensuring the upkeep and operational efficiency of our facilities, which include manufacturing areas, warehouses, and offices. The engineer will focus on maintaining and optimising all mechanical and electrical systems to ensure they meet safety standards and operational requirements while efficiently managing maintenance contracts.

Key Accountabilities Include:

  • Develop and maintain a thorough maintenance program for all electrical and mechanical systems, prioritising preventive measures and effective lifecycle management.
  • Perform detailed and regular inspections of all systems, documenting results and actions to maintain optimal functionality.
  • Optimize building, environmental, and lighting management systems (BMS, EMS, and LMS) to ensure peak performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and safety standards throughout facility operations.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all site electrical and mechanical equipment to prevent downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Collaborate on projects related to the electrical and mechanical refurbishment and upgrades of facility and production areas, aiming to enhance system reliability and performance.
  • Conduct quality assessments of maintenance work performed by external contractors to ensure high standards.
  • Maintain strict safety protocols and ensure a quick, effective response to any emergency involving facility and production systems.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and advice to enhance the performance of all mechanical and electrical installations.
  • Support Maintenance Engineers in production breakdowns and projects.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven track record in maintaining electrical and mechanical systems in a manufacturing or similar industrial setting.
  • Possess a Level 3 NVQ or higher in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experienced in managing maintenance contracts and ensuring compliance with legal and safety regulations.
  • Deep understanding of industry-specific safety standards and proactive maintenance practices.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, proficient in using IT tools for maintenance management and reporting.
  • Capable of dealing with high-pressure situations and adapting to changing in operational needs.
  • Committed to environmental sustainability and adhering to strict health and safety standards.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple maintenance tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in injection molding is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong skills in electrical troubleshooting and installation.
