Location: Worthing, UK
Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Contract: Full-time, term-time only

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications

We are seeking a dedicated Classroom Support Assistant to join our team in Worthing. In this Classroom Support Assistant role, you will work closely with children who have diverse and complex needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorders, and other additional learning needs.

Key Responsibilities for a Classroom Support Assistant:

  • As a Classroom Support Assistant, you will provide personalised support to children, some of whom may display challenging behaviors, including physical outbursts.
  • Assist children with various physical and emotional needs, which may include tube feeding and other specialised care. This is a vital aspect of the Classroom Support Assistant role.
  • Use proactive strategies to manage challenging behaviors, keeping children safe and de-escalating situations effectively. These skills are crucial for a successful Classroom Support Assistant.
  • Support children with developing their social, emotional, and academic skills in line with their individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Actively monitor children's movements to ensure their safety, particularly for those with a tendency to run away. As a Classroom Support Assistant, you'll ensure the safety and well-being of each student.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff, therapists, and other specialists to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, embodying the role of a Classroom Support Assistant.

Ideal Candidate for Classroom Support Assistant:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children who have special needs or a care background is desirable.
  • Skills: Calm, patient, and adaptable with excellent communication and de-escalation skills.
  • Training: Understanding of or training in positive behavior management, safeguarding, or SEN support is beneficial.
  • Physical and Emotional Resilience: Able to remain calm and focused in challenging situations, responding effectively to children's needs.
