The role

Are you looking to step into this exciting, new and varied role that combines capability improvements within the PMO with learning and development activities? Perhaps you're in a project management role with a passion for upskilling others. Alternatively, you may have experience within learning and development (L&D) or training (with knowledge of project management or a project management qualification) and you're looking to diversify into a PMO.

Reporting in to the Head of Project Management, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the PMO capability strategy. You will focus on developing capabilities across project controls, planning, risk, and project management functions. Alongside this, we'll need you to deliver on resourcing and learning and development activities.

We are excited to offer you a hybrid working model that lets you balance your work and life. This role is based at our Lingley Mere head office in Warrington where In-person attendance is required three days per week to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration, alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance. Please note, we may require you on occasion to be onsite for additional days to meet business needs.

Key accountabilities

  • Report to senior leadership on PMO capability and resourcing matters. You'll serve as the PMO learning and development expert (once embedded in the role), offering advice and ensuring the strategic impact of learning is recognised.
  • Collaborate with PMO leadership team to evaluate operational needs and plan solutions for succession planning, talent management, recruitment and capability development.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a competency management system for the PMO, analysing data to identify training needs and inform workforce planning.
  • Help shape and deliver the PMO continuous improvement agenda, benchmarking against industry best practices and defining strategies to enhance performance

Skills & experience

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build and manage relationships across all levels and functions to achieve objectives.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing organisational development initiatives, or experience managing projects with significant resource challenges.
  • Confident creating and delivering presentations to stakeholders.
  • Proactive and innovative with the ability to constructively challenge stakeholders across all levels, fostering process innovation.
  • Able to provide creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Proficiency in Excel processes to analyse data efficiently within spreadsheets.
