We are seeking a Subject Leader for Biology who will take the helm in providing leadership and management to ensure high-quality teaching, effective use of resources, and improved standards of learning and achievement for all students. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing policies and practices that reflect our school's commitment to high achievement and effective teaching and learning.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and implement subject-specific policies and practices that align with the school's vision for high achievement.
  • Foster a positive climate for staff and students, promoting confidence and a shared understanding of the subject's importance.
  • Utilise data to identify underachieving pupils and devise plans to support them.
  • Analyse national, local, and school data to inform teaching methods and set targets.
  • Ensure curriculum continuity and progression, catering to a diverse student body.
  • Guide staff on teaching objectives, lesson planning, and assessment strategies.
  • Evaluate and improve teaching quality within the subject area.
  • Develop partnerships with parents/carers and the local community to enhance the subject's curriculum and teaching.

  • Proven leadership and management skills within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and teaching methodologies.
  • Ability to use data effectively to inform teaching practices and student support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead and manage staff.
