Attendance and Admissions Officer

This is a term time only plus 3 weeks. The post holder is employed for 41 weeks per year, which includes five training days. Main working hours are 8am – 3pm.

Our client is seeking a dedicated Attendance and Admissions Officer to join their team and contribute to the smooth operation of our school's administrative functions. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in attendance monitoring, admissions, and general administrative duties, ensuring compliance with school policies and statutory legislation.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Liaise with parents/carers and students regarding attendance issues and follow up on student absences.
  • Manage and monitor attendance systems, including Truancy Call, and maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Produce and interpret statistical data relating to attendance patterns and report to relevant parties.
  • Handle admission enquiries, manage the admissions process, and maintain the school's waiting list in accordance with the Admission Policy.
  • Organise and support school events such as Year 6 – 7 admissions, including the Fair Banding testing process.
  • Respond to appeals and requests for feedback regarding admissions and coordinate with the Clerk to Governors and Appeal Panel members.
  • Provide administrative support to various school departments and assist in the development of school reward systems.
  • Maintain a high quality of data in school systems and ensure the filing of student records is up to date.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar administrative role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using school Management of Information Systems and standard office software.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and in compliance with Data Protection/GDPR.
  • A flexible approach to work and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Commitment to the school's ethos, equalities, and inclusion policies.
  • First Aid at Work certification is desirable.
