- You will be responsible for teaching history to pupils aged 11-18, following the national curriculum and preparing them for GCSE and A-level exams.
- Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons that cover a range of historical topics and periods, and develop pupils' historical knowledge, skills and understanding.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources, including textbooks, documentaries, artefacts, field trips and online platforms, to enhance pupils' learning and interest.
- Assess and monitor pupils' progress and attainment and provide them with regular and constructive feedback and support.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the history department and participate in cross-curricular projects and initiatives.
We are looking for the following people.
- Have a recognised teaching qualification and QTS, and a degree in history or a related subject.
- Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the history curriculum and the latest developments and trends in history education.
- Experienced with teaching history at secondary level, and of preparing pupils for GCSE and A-level exams.
- Have excellent history skills, and the ability to use a range of sources and evidence effectively and critically.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and external partners.
- Strong organisational and classroom management skills, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Committed to supporting professional development and reflective practice.
The school has a modern and well-equipped history department, with four dedicated classrooms, a library, a museum and a network of laptops and tablets.
