Reporting to a manager, the role involves working with the internal audit team to undertake the internal audit/assurance work for a range of clients. At present the role will predominantly focus on the education arena.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Plan the assignment - liaising with client/setting up working papers for the relevant testing
- Prepare audit reports
- Assist the wider audit and accounts team in the delivery of statutory audits and accounts preparation as required
- Act as a point of contact for clients for ad hoc queries
- Actively participate in department meetings
- Provide supervision and support to team members, reviewing work as required
- Undertake relevant CPD to maintain technical knowledge
- Make suggestions for updating and improving the department and the firm's systems and processes
- Attend clients' premises predominantly across the North-East and Yorkshire depending on office location
Person Specification
Essential
- AAT level 4 qualified
- Proven experience in a similar role
- Recent general practice background
- Experience of involvement in or leading audits
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Be resilient with the ability to work under pressure and deliver quality outcomes to tight timescales
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be confident speaking to clients face to face, over the telephone and by email
- Must have excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Excel
- The ability to check work for accuracy and have good attention to detail
- The ability to travel to clients' premises as required
Desirable
- Internal audit qualification awarded by the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors
- Knowledge of industry standard accounting packages such as Sage, IRIS, Access and Xero
- Knowledge of the education sector
